Insanely Easy & Delicious Chocolate Mousse Recipe (And 5 creative ways to enjoy it!)

If you’re a regular visitor, you know by now that I like to put a healthy twist on delicious desserts, like my truffles or chocolate. My latest recipe is chocolate mousse, both kid and Mama-approved. (My son couldn’t get enough!)

Unlike some healthy recipes, these ingredients are all easy to find. In fact, the hardest part is cleaning the food processor when you’re finished!

This mousse packs a nutritional punch, made of only banana, avocado, and cocoa powder. There’s nothing unhealthy in the mix, through you wouldn’t guess by the rich taste. (Check out why avocado is so healthy here.)

 

Recipe

To whip up this delectable dessert, you’ll need:

  • 1 medium avocado (about 130 grams)
  • 1 large banana (about 140 grams)
  • 3 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp maple syrup (optional, for extra sweetness)

To assemble your masterpiece:

  1. Mash the avocado in the food processor.mousse-shot-1
  2. Add the banana and cocoa powder, mix thoroughly. If desired, add maple syrup.
  3. I highly recommend serving the mousse cold; it’s one of those things that just doesn’t taste right at room temperature.

 

5 Ways to Savor It

You can dive in, or you can get creative…

1. Enjoy the mousse as-is, with a spoon. Easy and delicious.

2. Use the mousse as frosting on a cake or cupcake. We used this as the frosting on my son’s homemade smash cake for his first birthday, and it was a big success.

3. Add it to ice cream. YUM! (Just don’t make the mistake of trying to heat it like hot fudge. Trust me, it doesn’t end well.)

4. Spread it atop a cookie or graham cracker.

5. Freeze it in a fun popsicle mold for a creamy homemade Fudgesicle®.
